That is different. Your argument is that because some candidate for office threatens to enforce laws against voter fraud that it is voter suppression. What laws are they threatening to enforce? I hope you are not suggesting that requiring someone to present an ID to vote is suppression? Also, I ask again, the GA bill that was recently passed increased the number of days for early voting and put in guidelines for the numbers of polling places that must be in each county. Now obviously for larger counties this could create issues. However, that was the case BEFORE the law was passed.
The biggest problem with the GA bill was the issue around who gets to count the votes. Now that is the actual threat to democracy.

Can we all admit that the inflation matter was and remains a best guess - and truth to tell, no matter what anyone says, we have mostly on tool - the Fed and interest rates. We have only one more tool - tax excess profits (not saying they work but the data are difficult because the conditions are fluid).
Re the rest - ok the 50th vote for Dems has all the power. But that is because we are at best a flawed democratic republic designed to stop legislation.

Listened to your Friday podcast with Charlie...One thing to think about regarding the "third party debate". I believe Tim mentioned that it would be better if sane Republicans ran as Dems rather than as independents yet you also mentioned in some states how the Dem "brand" was so tainted that it wouldn't help to run as a Dem. I think you may have even mentioned Evan McMullin in UT as an suggested example rather than him running as an Independent. A counterfactual to this argument was TX where a rationale ex-Republican (that I held hope for), Matthew Dowd, went absolutely nowhere in his Lt Gov race running as a Republican. And the reason I thought he dropped out of the Dem primary (i.e. didn't even get enough support to finish the primary) was because the Dems thought him "insufficiently Dem" given his past Republican bona fides.
Granted, that's just one example, but in some states a cross over candidate is having to overcome the Dem "brand" AND the sincerity of their commitment (and therefore purity to the values) to the Dem party. No easy answers. but the Independent "brand" of Forward or Independent may be the best option.

The GOP primary for Hassen's Senate has 11 candidates: Gerard Beloin, John Berman, Donald Bolduc, Bruce Fenton, Dennis Lamare, Edmond Laplante Jr., Andy Martin, Chuck Morse, Tejasinha Sivalingham, Kevin Smith, and Vikram Mansharamani. And most of these are first class nut jobs/insurrectionists/ MAGA pretenders. But I do expect an insurrectionist will surge from the pack as in other state primaries. It's the GOP way.
I also expect my neighbor, Joe, to declare. He'll fit in with his eight foot "Let's Go Brandon" banner hanging over his front door. Nice. A guy two doors down flaunts a ginormous white flag with black fist flashing that charming GOP brand. The middle finger. I won't be surprised if that guy runs for schoolboard. Where he can ban a few dozen books, promote open [teacher] carry, and stick all ten fingers in the eyes of all ten of the town's libs. Ah, my town. Ah, New Hampshire. The state with granite in their brains.
PS Pundits are so down on Hassen. They may focus on her milquetoast personality but they ignore her track record. The former NH governor gets elected/re-elected. Many, many times.
I mean, I don't Love the idea of opening up more federal lands to drilling and giving a pass to true carbon capture technology under coal. I also don't think inflation would have been any more drastic than it is under the BBB. Besides the fact that it was an economic package that would have been spent over a ten year period and the money supply is more of an ingredient of wages (being the biggest expense on a company's balance sheet) . A McDonalds worker going from $10 to $15 an hour in the span of 2 years would have more of an influence then a budget bill, just saying. But hey, there are some real opportunities to both reduce carbon footprints and get off foreign oil. I'd say Manchin pulled off an upset with the diplomatic tact worthy of LBJ. My feeling it was brinkmanship inside the party that brought him to the table tho.....AND I just don't think he had to do it. I think he could have made a relevant rational case for replacing coal jobs with repairing wind turbines, that most democrats would have accepted, without all the antics. Shit tho, build the man a statue, stack it right next to the one of Mike Pence. I could care less as long as we can agree that Climate Change is more of a threat to our way of life then a person's right to bear a child....not now but right now.
